Professor Carol Bower grew up in Boddington with her family. She went on to study Medicine. For most of her working life, she has been involved in child health research and currently works at the Telethon Kids Institute. Her pioneering research has saved the lives of children around Australia.
Living in a small country town, in a family with a strong commitment to community service, inspired Carol was inspired to pursue a career in medical research to improve the lives of children and their families.
Professor Bower will talk about the importance of researchers and community members working together. She will discuss her research that contributed to preventing spina bifida as well as her current work on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.
